just some autism things:
- don’t say “yeah but you’re high functioning”
- don’t use functioning labels period
- aspergers is still autism
- not all autistic people are savants
- our facial expressions (or lack their of) are not always indicative of how we’re feeling
- autism doesn’t just “happen in boys”
- the autism spectrum DOES NOT range from most autistic to least autistic, it’s just variations in challenges and strengths for each autistic individual
- you 100% deserved to get punched in the mouth for using autism as an insult
- it is never your place to tell someone how they should feel about their autism whether it’s good or bad
- vaccinations do not cause autism, if you’re afraid of having an autistic child you just shouldn’t have children
- autism is different for each individual too
- never compare two autistic people because no two autistic people are the same
- AUTISM DOES NOT MAGICALLY GO AWAY AT 18, AUTISTIC ADULTS EXIST
- special interests are the bomb dot com
- stimming should always be encouraged unless it is harmful to the person or to someone else, even then, redirect them to a different, harmless stim
